This "floating" installation means that the flooring is not connected to the subfloor. It can therefore be removed at any time without damaging the flooring itself or the subfloor. To cut the planks to size, all you need is a cutter knife with which to score the planks and then break them off. Since the planks are only 4 mm thick, they are very suitable for renovation work. This flooring can be installed on many substrates. The prerequisite is that the substrate is flat, dry, clean and solid. Unsuitable as a subfloor are carpeted floors and floating laminate or chipboard. You can also lay the flooring on an old tiled floor, if the individual tiles are firm and the joints between them are not larger than 1 mm. The flooring can also be laid on a fixed wooden floor. Likewise, screed or concrete are suitable as a substrate. These may have a maximum residual moisture of 2.5% CM in the case of cement or 0.5% CM in the case of a SaSo4 subfloor. The flooring is intended for indoor use only, so it must not be laid in winter gardens or on terraces. Before installation, the planks must lie flat for 48 hours in the room where they will later be installed for acclimatization. The room temperature should be between 18 °C and 30 °C during the installation of the planks. During installation, an expansion joint of 0.1% of the floor width, maximum 5 mm, must be maintained to the walls. This joint, which is later covered with matching skirting boards, prevents the flooring from curling due to heat exposure.
