How do you find the right laminate floor?

Of course, the laminate floor must first please you, i.e. have the right colour, surface structure and design. But this alone is often not enough. The floor should also be able to withstand the daily stresses and strains. On the other hand, the more resistant the laminate is, the more expensive it becomes. But how do you even know what kind of loads the floor can withstand? There are two important parameters in the description of the laminate: the abrasion class and the service classes.

The abrasion class is indicated as AC + number. The higher the number, the more resistant the material is. The abrasion class indicates how many times a wheel covered with emery paper can be turned at one point on the floor before it leaves permanent marks. The abrasion classes AC 3 and AC 4 are common for laminate.

The service classes indicate whether the floor is intended for private use (2x), commercial use (3x) or industrial use (4x). The x is replaced by another number indicating the load capacity: 1 = light load, 2 = normal load, 3 = heavy load. For private use it looks like this:
