You should consider this before laying the laminate

Acclimatisation of the laminate: The laminate takes at least 48 hours to acclimatize. To do this, lay it flat in the unopened packages on the floor of the room in which it is to be laid later.

Check and prepare the subfloor: Remove loose floor coverings, such as carpeting. An old wooden floor, on the other hand, is suitable as a subfloor if it is firm and free from chipping. The subfloor for installation must be firm, dry, level and free of cracks. Flat in this context means that there must be no unevenness greater than 3 mm per 1 m. If there are larger unevennesses or cracks in the floor, level them out with an appropriate filler. If the laminate is to be laid on concrete or screed - often referred to as a mineral substrate - the residual moisture must not exceed the following values: - Cement screed without underfloor heating: 2 CM %, with underfloor heating 1.5 CM % - Anhydrite screed without underfloor heating: 0.5 CM %, with underfloor heating 0.3 CM %. The CM stands for the calcium carbide method, a generally recognised measuring method regulated by DIN EN 18560.

Moisture barrier and footfall sound insulation When laying on a mineral subfloor and/or over a water-bearing floor heating system, you must first install a moisture barrier, also known as a vapour barrier. This is a thin PE film that prevents moisture from the subfloor from penetrating into the laminate. Irrespective of the type of subfloor, you always need footfall sound insulation for a laminate floor. This is supplied as rolls or in the form of mats. They are laid over a possible vapour barrier and underneath the laminate
