When do you need a vapour barrier for your parquet floor?You always need a vapour barrier between the subfloor and the parquet floor if moisture can rise from the floor. This is especially the case with anhydrite and cement screeds. But also if the floor is above a laundry room or boiler room or if the parquet is to be laid over underfloor heating. The vapour barrier consists of a polyethylene film at least 0,2 mm thick or a combined insulation underlay consisting of a vapour barrier and an insulating foam mat. When laying, you should allow the edges of the foil to overlap by approx. 20 cm and stick them together along the entire length with a suitable adhesive tape.You should bear this in mind when laying the parquetBefore laying, the parquet must spend at least 24, better 48 hours lying in the room to acclimatise. It should be at least one meter away from the walls. This is the only way to ensure appropriate air circulation. Leave the boxes with the planks closed. To achieve an optimum result, ensure a room temperature of 18 °C and a relative humidity of between 30 % and 60 % 1 to 2 days before and at least 3 days after laying. With natural wood there are always small variations in colour. Therefore, when laying the boards, take them alternately from different boxes. This gives you a more even colour distribution. Wood is a material that expands or contracts depending on the humidity in the air. Therefore, you must leave expansion joints of approx. 2 mm per meter of room width towards the walls. These expansion joints are covered by skirting boards at the end of the installation. With the 2-lock system you can easily lay the parquet floor without tools. Insert the planks at a small angle from above into the profile of the previous row. The floorboard locks into place by pressing down on the floor. | |
