What are the advantages of the layered structure of this parquet?

In the past, parquet usually consisted of solid wood planks. However, since wood reacts to the humidity and temperature in the room, this quickly leads to the opening of gaps between the individual planks. When humidity is low and temperatures are high, wood contracts. This then leads to these joint widenings. Today, parquet is usually constructed from several layers. HARO Parquet 4000 Amber Oak consists of three layers. The top layer consists of a 3.5 mm thick wear layer of oak. Below that is the middle layer. It consists of spruce sticks, which are arranged transversely to the upper layer of oak. Due to this arrangement, the stress forces caused by temperature and humidity fluctuations are evenly distributed. The bottom layer of the parquet plank is formed by a retractable veneer made of softwood. It provides the high dimensional stability of the parquet. The strong wear layer made of oak guarantees the possibility of sanding the parquet several times in the course of its life, if necessary. This multilayer structure is advantageous not only in terms of temperature and humidity fluctuations. It also means that less of the valuable oak wood is needed to make the parquet. Since oaks are slow-growing trees, this is more environmentally friendly.
