Cork consists of the bark of the cork oak and can be peeled off - without damaging the tree. The cork oak can simply form the bark anew. During the formation of the cork bark, a considerable amount of CO2 is extracted from the air and stored in the bark. If the cork is peeled off and further processed, the CO2 remains stored in it. This results in the unique situation that this flooring stores more CO2 than is released during its production. At the end of its life cycle, the flooring can be 100% recycled.
