At the same time, a parquet floor with its long life is fully in line with the trend towards sustainability. Especially as this floor does not have to be disposed of as waste at the end of its life, but can be used as a raw material for new products.What you should consider before laying this parquet floorGivethe parquet at least 48 hours time to adapt to the climatic conditions of the room. To do this, lay the closed packages of parquet flat on the floor.For installation, the subfloor must have a temperature of at least 15 °C, while the room temperature should be at least 18 °C. The relative humidity in the room must be between 30 % and 60 %. Please make sure that these conditions are not only met on the day of installation itself, but also one or two days before and three or four days afterwards. Is the room in which you want to install the parquet very large? You can lay up to 240 m² of parquet flooring without additional expansion joints. The room should be no wider than 12 m and no longer than 20 m.Do you want to lay the parquet over underfloor heating? This is possible if it is a hot water underfloor heating system and the surface temperature does not exceed 27 °C. However, you will then have to install a vapour barrier, also known as a moisture barrier, between the subfloor and the parquet. This is a PE film (polyethylene film) at least 0.2 mm thick, which prevents moisture from penetrating the floor from below. You also need this vapour barrier when laying the parquet on a mineral subfloor (cement, screed). For laying the parquet, the subfloor must be firm, clean, level and free of cracks.Mix planks from different packages before installation to give the floor a more natural look.
